What is Hypoxic fire prevention technology

Hypoxic fire prevention technology is an active fire protection technique rely on oxygen continuous reduction in atmosphere to prevent fire initiation.

In order for combustion to take place oxygen must be more than 15-16% by volume, accordingly if the oxygen level in the protected space reduced from 20.9% to 13-14% by increasing nitrogen percentage this will ensure the prevention of ignition & that’s how fire prevention system works.

Reducing oxygen in atmosphere has the same effect on the human body at high altitude or travelling by aircraft as the amount of oxygen in each breath is lower than normal atmosphere.

Hypoxic fire prevention can be used to protect:

  • Electrical substations.
  • Power rooms.
  • Large warehouses.
  • Storage for high value items.
  • ICT facilities.
